MEET THE COMMITTEE.

  • Whether at the scale of individual building, landscape or urban design, Je’s unique stamp shines through in his rich portfolio of projects, which, despite logistical and financial constraints retain their rare and idiosyncratic qualities.

    With decades of experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, Je leads design input across all projects, working with and building strong relationships across sectors including schools, charities, hospitals, museums, local authorities and housing associations.

  • Simon has tonnes of expertise in sustainable planning and mixed-use development. 

    His past experiences with global projects have greatly influenced his local ones. These include the award-winning Business School, Digital Arts and SU buildings for Manchester Metropolitan University and the Engineering buildings at the University of Toronto and Trinity College Dublin. 

    More recently, he led the residential development of Circle Square in Manchester, and green city of Kigali in Rwanda.

  • A champion of inclusive architecture and specialist in stakeholder engagement, Sarah leads projects ranging from community hubs to large scale masterplans. She’s the co-founder of IF_DO and known for her innovative, community-focused design.

    She is also a founding member of Part W, an action group advocating for gender parity in the built environment. A recognised thought leader in architecture and urban design, Sarah has been recognised in the Architects’ Journal 40 under 40 list and as a Future 50 global leader by the PMI.

  • Pete co-founded Planit, an interdisciplinary, creative studio on a mission to design for all life to thrive in balance.

    Taking an integrated approach to urban futures, Pete pioneers the way forward for sustainability in projects, collaborating on all scales. His focus is on place-changing policies, framework planning and good growth, that moves beyond sustainable to net-positive and beyond into regenerative practices. 

    He also established Learning-Lab, a Regenerative Practice programme and network. 

    Pete is a founding member of the LCR Built Environment Board and Chair of the PLANT CIC in Manchester – the UK’s biggest urban gardening volunteer-led project.

  • Keith studied at Manchester University before joining the Practice in 1992. He has designed and delivered many high-profile, award-winning projects in the city including Leonardo Hotel and Halle St Peter’s.

    His proudest achievement was his collab with Capital&Centric on the Leonardo Hotel, a 275-bedroom hotel located at the key junction of Great Ancoats Street and Adair Street. Its trailblazing design has already had a major impact on the streetscape of Manchester.

  • Mark runs shedkm’s Liverpool studio and their many regeneration projects. These include residential ones like Crusader and Kampus in Manchester and commercial schemes such as Littlewoods in Liverpool. He has developed the company’s sustainability policy and oversees the development of the studio.

    He also has specialist sub-groups across the practice and champions the practice’s approach to B Corp accreditation and 2030/Architects Declare.

  • Since co-founding Studio MUTT in 2017, Graham has directed a mix of cultural and public-facing projects, drawing on his passion for urban regeneration, placemaking and ensuring sustainable futures within communities. In 2021, he led the retrofit of Coventry Bus Station into a hybrid cultural and civic space.

    With Studio Mutt, Graham has championed cultural spaces through creative partnerships with institutions like the V&A and Tate. He also lectures, including at Studio MUTT’s 3rd year Architecture Design studio ‘NOW’ at the University of Liverpool.

  • Annalie Riches co-founded Mikhail Riches to focus on designing neighbourhoods that are inherently sustainable and joyful places to live.

    She is recognised for her masterplanning, strategic approach and setting the bar for low-carbon social housing with Clay Field and Goldsmith Street. Annalie built her own house, Whatcotts Yard, which won RIBA and AJ awards. Other projects include Velocity,  the 2018 Infrastructure Commission Competition winner, and the Bridgewater masterplan in the Olympic Park.

    She is also a visiting Professor of Architecture at Sheffield University and an External Examiner for The University of the Creative Arts.

  • Mark leads BDP’s UK Housing Sector team and has delivered a number of major regeneration schemes in the UK and abroad, including the multi-award-winning UK Pavilion at the 2015 Milan Expo (he loves a good expo pavilion) and Sture, a £750m+ city centre regeneration project in Stockholm. Mark also led Capital&Centric’s Weir Mill, a listed building mixed-use project that is the catalyst for the regeneration of Stockport town centre.

    He loves working with complex masterplan led sites, town centre regeneration projects, existing buildings and high-density mixed use urban living.
